Each of us is working towards the publication of a high quality art book (see below). It is a labour of love. We both very much admire the variety and quality of the above artists' works - just one measure of their success is that, in 1887, all five artists had works accepted for the Summer Exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts in London - probably a unique artistic family achievement! No personal profit will arise from this very time consuming project - indeed it remains a priority to restrict the extent to which we are out of pocket - any author of a quality fine art book with a small print run will confirm!!!! Bryan is researching the eminent painter/etcher Herbert Thomas Dicksee and his father John Robert - his book will largely concentrate on Herbert's etchings (170+ different ones) but colour images of oil paintings, watercolours etc depicting his dog and wildlife subjects etc are very much needed in order to achieve a good pictorial balance within the book. The book will contain a catalogue raisonne of all Herbert's etchings. Simon is concentrating on the other three artists - his book will major on the life and works of Sir Frank Dicksee -who was President of the Royal Academy, London from 1924 until his death in 1928. Bryan (retired) is the initial contact point for all input and E-mail correspondence but he will liaise closely with Simon. We seek information from around the globe on the lives of the above artists, however seemingly trivial and mundane. We are also very keen to obtain details of original works of art that are held in national, state, city or provincial galleries, private hands etc, because estate sales and sunsequent periodic disposals by descendents have resulted in many of these artists' oil paintings, watercolours, pastels, pencil and pen/ink drawings being spread far and wide, with little knowledge of their current whereabouts. Family archives have been accessed but are of limited usefulness. In general terms we know that many original works of art have found their way to the U.S.A., South Africa, Australia and other continents but there the trail has gone dead. Bryan and Simon regret it is not possible to provide indications of likely market value, as so much depends on viewable condition, geographical location etc, Complete confidentiality is assured. Agreement will be reached on all points before an image is published.
